Start Strong…#2
Starting strong is so important for our lives. It is proven that if you don’t start the day right then it can affect the rest of everything you do. As we begin our New Year I hope you are taking a closer look at how you are beginning each day. I didn’t think about this last time, but please don’t say to yourself, “I don’t have time to start my day in the right way.” This is an excuse and excuses have no place in our New Year. So let’s look at our next step in STARTING STRONG.
#2 Make a healthy DEPOSIT
Our bodies and minds are like banks in a way. We are putting things in all day long. We see things and they enter our eye and then our mind and then our heart. That is a deposit. Marketing companies know this is a powerful deposit of sorts, because what we see can stay with us for a long time. We also make deposits as we hear things. We can surround ourselves with negative people and our mind is filled with negativity. Our bodies are the same. Eat a Big Mac with cheese to start your day and I can guarantee the kind of day you are going to have!
However, out of all these things we introduce into our system we tend to forget the most important part and that is our spirit. When you begin the day I want you to focus on making the healthiest deposit of all into your spirit…PRAYER!
The Bible says this about prayer:
Ephesians 6:18 – “pray at all times in the Spirit”
I Thessalonians 5:17 – “pray without ceasing”
In other words, start your day off by talking to God. Prayer energizes your spirit, unclutters your mind and truly gets the blood flowing in the body. Prayer that will start your day is like taking a line and drawing it right to all you want to accomplish. Prayer invites the living God of creation into your life and into all your goals, dreams and desires and I don’t know about you, but knowing that God is in the trenches with me all day is something I want!
So when you start your day, take a moment. Just pray. It doesn’t have to be fancy or eloquent. Just talk. Just praise. Just open up. Just invite. Make this critical deposit into your life. Then when you do you will know you have stepped out into the world with the One who created it! Now that is starting strong!
Have a blessed day!
Love you all,
Rev. Jim
