SACRED SPACE–Sunday Night Youth Fellowship (rising 6th-12th)

36 parables

A time for worship, Bible study, fun & fellowship on Sunday evenings! We’ve heard the parables of Jesus, but have we really experienced them? For many, the stories Jesus used to teach truth, to get people thinking about faith and life, and to challenge them to live differently are just that—stories. But with these thought-provoking lessons from 36 Parables, you truly experience the parables of Jesus. So join us on Sunday nights in room 220 from 5-8pm!

TNT-Teens N’ Truth

The GAHP

Sometimes it’s hard to transition from being a 5th grader in elementary school where you’re the oldest and the coolest, to being a 6th grader in Middle School. That’s one of the reasons we have SUMC Youth, to help you adjust to new things! We’re a group of friends that have Jesus in common! So join us on Wednesday nights in room 220 from 6-7pm. Right now we are studying “The Gospel According to Harry Potter.” It is a book that is sure to delight Harry Potter fans and spiritual seekers alike, Connie Neal embarks on an exploration into J.K. Rowling’s created world of magic and mystery and enumerates more than fifty “Potteran” themes that can be seen as glimmers of the Christian gospel. With an arsenal of charming allusions and parallels, Neal persuasively demonstrates that Harry Potter need not be rejected as a threat to the Christian faith, as some have claimed. This is a must-attend for everyone intrigued by the Harry Potter phenomenon and who desire to be Seekers for the truth in Christ!

COME ALIVE! Raising the Standard: Setting the Foundation

As the Easter Day Celebration has come and gone we know it never leaves our heart. We learned  that Coming Alive is what Easter is all about. However, coming alive means many things. So as we continue into spring and summer what a great time to RAISE THE STANDARD in our lives.

Over the next several months we will look at how God wants us to live the most incredible life we can.  Yet, many of us are stuck in patterns and ruts. Many of us settle for just a mediocre life instead of the life that God has planned for us.  What are your dreams, goals and desires that have been unrealized? How can you make them real in your life today?

It will take one thing …RAISING THE STANDARD IN YOUR LIFE!  So bring a friend and be with a great group of people who love the Lord. Can’t wait to see you then!

    Childrens Wordle

Our love for our children is pure and unconditional. Jesus expressed his love for the children of the world in Matthew 19:14 – “Let the little come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” We share Jesus’ love through LEARNING, SERVICE, WORSHIP, FUN and FELLOWSHIP. Our Children’s Education Ministry grows on a weekly basis and we have a wonderful team behind us to build enriching classes, service projects, festivals and much more in our journey to learn more about our Lord & Savior. Your kids will not want to miss a beat!

As adults we face pressures from all angles. Whether you are single, a parent, young, older or anything in between life can be difficult. At Stockbridge UMC we are dedicated to bringing ministries that empower people, love people and help people grow as Christians in this world. Our ministries are wide and broad reaching and we hope you will take time to read about each, but also want to know more.

    UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The United Methodist Women, or UMW, is a group of women who come together once a month for two main reasons: mission and fellowship.

At Stockbridge First, we believe that reaching out to the social missions of our community is a vital part ofourmission. UMW is in the process of planning a variety of activities for 2009 and would love to have you join them. The women of UMW would love all women of the church to join with them, and invite you to consider attending their next meeting for a great time of fellowship and friends.  They now hold breakfast meetings on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 8:30am in room 238.

UNITED METHODIST MEN: The United Methodist Men (UMM) would like to invite all men ages 15 and up to join us for breakfast and fellowship. We meet on the second Saturday of each month at 8:30am. Typically, the meetings last about an hour.

The UMM is a group of men who come together for the four F’s: FAITH, FELLOWSHIP, FOOD, and FUN. We are involved in the life of the church and the community through many events. Our annual Pork and Chicken BBQs and the church Pumpkin Patch in October are huge hits. We also host a Pit Stop (car inspection) twice a year for our seniors of the church and the community. For those that like to play in the dirt, we also have work days maintaining the grounds of the church. If you’re looking for some fun, we play paintball with our youth and enjoy bowling, golfing and fishing with each other. We also continue to support ourcompass-2 local missions through blanket drives and canned food drives to our local food pantry.

As you can see, UMM has a little bit of everything to offer. So come and join us and we will get you on course!

SMALL GROUPS: We have a wonderful selection of small groups for all ages.  They meet on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and throughout the week.

RELAY FOR LIFE: We are very involved in cancer support and attend the annual Relay For Life.  Come join us and let’s find a cure for cancer.

CANCER CONNECTION: If you are a cancer survivor or someone who has lost a friend or loved one to cancer come and be a part of this special group.  They will love you and listen to you.

BIBLE STUDIES: We have many ways in which you can learn and grow deeper in your walk.  Find out how and get connected with a great Bible study.  Learn about God, yourself and meet a great group of people.

    HE IS RISEN FOR YOU!

What a great Easter Day we had! In fact, what a wonderful Holy Week journey. The services were filled and I know the Lord touched your hearts as we heard the love of God proclaimed through music and word. There are some things you need to know about our risen Lord. Because of Jesus’ Resurrection you have a GOD THAT LOVES YOU. Because of Jesus’ Resurrection you have a GOD THAT FORGIVES YOU. Because of Jesus’ Resurrection you have a GOD THAT IS WITH YOU. This is Good News for you and me. We have a God that loves us that much. Now the big question…how will you live it?

There is so much to learn about Jesus. There is so much to understand about what it means to be His disciple. At Stockbridge First we are doing just that. We have so many opportunities for you to learn and grow. We have a growing church family that is filled with the Holy Spirit and continues to reach out in ministry. Come and be a part of it and never let the Easter Spirit fade away. Instead, nurture it, let it grow, continue to let it burn bright for all to see.

Come join us…we are here. You will be glad you came.

    Happy Easter To All!

    Rev. Jim
