SACRED SPACE–Sunday Night Youth Fellowship (rising 6th-12th)

36 parables

A time for worship, Bible study, fun & fellowship on Sunday evenings! We’ve heard the parables of Jesus, but have we really experienced them? For many, the stories Jesus used to teach truth, to get people thinking about faith and life, and to challenge them to live differently are just that—stories. But with these thought-provoking lessons from 36 Parables, you truly experience the parables of Jesus. So join us on Sunday nights in room 220 from 5-8pm!

TNT-Teens N’ Truth

The GAHP

Sometimes it’s hard to transition from being a 5th grader in elementary school where you’re the oldest and the coolest, to being a 6th grader in Middle School. That’s one of the reasons we have SUMC Youth, to help you adjust to new things! We’re a group of friends that have Jesus in common! So join us on Wednesday nights in room 220 from 6-7pm. Right now we are studying “The Gospel According to Harry Potter.” It is a book that is sure to delight Harry Potter fans and spiritual seekers alike, Connie Neal embarks on an exploration into J.K. Rowling’s created world of magic and mystery and enumerates more than fifty “Potteran” themes that can be seen as glimmers of the Christian gospel. With an arsenal of charming allusions and parallels, Neal persuasively demonstrates that Harry Potter need not be rejected as a threat to the Christian faith, as some have claimed. This is a must-attend for everyone intrigued by the Harry Potter phenomenon and who desire to be Seekers for the truth in Christ!

Childrens Wordle

Our love for our children is pure and unconditional. Jesus expressed his love for the children of the world in Matthew 19:14 – “Let the little come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” We share Jesus’ love through LEARNING, SERVICE, WORSHIP, FUN and FELLOWSHIP. Our Children’s Education Ministry grows on a weekly basis and we have a wonderful team behind us to build enriching classes, service projects, festivals and much more in our journey to learn more about our Lord & Savior. Your kids will not want to miss a beat!

WORSHIP
ELEVATE: Shipwrecked: A journey of discovery through the life of Paul.Shipwrecked
Trapped on an island they think is deserted, two castaways, Aaron and Jamie, face hunger, weather, something they think is a large bird, and the sound of something they can’t even see. Will they survive? Will they be rescued? Will they ever learn to get along? Find out as we learn some valuable lessons from the life of Paul. K through 5th grade are welcome following the Children’s Moment during both the 8:30 & 11:00am service.

God’s Garden: Dr. Tomorrow’s Robot Repair Shop Jr.: Learn to tell others about Jesus
Join Dr. Tomorrow and his trusty assistants, Newton and Pixie, at Dr. Tomorrow’s Robot Repair Shop. In this series your children will help Pixie and Newton build a robot that, when finished, will tell others about Jesus. Within each lesson your children will hear stories from Jesus’ life and learn how to apply those lessons to their own lives. All children ages 3-5 years are welcome after Children’s Moment in 8:30am and 11:00am service.

We are still in need of volunteers to aid our little ones in their spiritual growth. What greater joy is there than seeing children become aware of God and His love for them?! If you feel called to help out in God’s Garden during 8:30 or 11:00 am service once very 2 months, please contact Dee Kirby at kenny_dee@charter.net.

Bible presentation to all rising 3rd graders in 11am service on August 8th!

LEARNING
“GOD’S LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL” IN SUNDAY SCHOOL
Our children are learning that “God Loves Us, We Show our Love to God and We Learn to Love One Another”

August 1st is Promotion Sunday! We celebrate all of our returning and new kids to Sunday School with a small reception in the Fellowship Hall starting at 10am. Children being promoted to the next Sunday School grade level will be recognized during this time.

G.L.O.W. – God’s Love on Wednesdays - Rocking Out at Baobab BlastBaobab Blast!

Our dynamic, high-energy G.L.O.W. program helps kids understand how to build nurturing relationships with God, family and others. Building relationships is not just a theory; it’s a place where meaningful friendships happen. Plus, when kids participate in the hands on mission projects they learn how to help expand God’s community. Join us for this Summer series on Wednesdays in Room 214 from 6:30-7:30pm.

SERVICE (Smiles for Jesus)
Matthew 25:40 – “..I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS
For the next 80 days the children in Elevate will participate in a variety of small mission projects that help those in need from all 7 continents. Our first stop – Uganda, Africa. Not only did the children learn about the people of this country, they quickly realized how difficult understanding Scripture was in another language. You see, the people of Uganda speak over 40 languages. Churches are well attended, however, the majority of the time the sermon is spoken in another language. In addition, bibles are scarce. We have adopted a poster project to help them learn bible verses which will in turn improve the literacy rate. The posters will be displayed in the Narthex for the first two weeks of August before they are shipped off to our friends in Uganda. Don’t miss them! NEXT STOP : Hope and Healing for Orphaned Children in China

FRIENDS OF THE POOR: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC CLOTHING DRIVE
Accepting spring and summer clothing, sandals and flip flops for children of all ages ALL year round. Just imagine what a few minutes of closet cleanup could bring to those in need

BURST: Green Church
Repent.Reclaim.Reduce.Reuse.Recycle.Rejoice!“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good” – Genesis 1:31. Let’s be good stewards of God’s creation and drop off our Capri Sun Juice Pouches and Frito Lay Chip Bags in the Children’s Sunday School Classrooms.

FUN & FELLOWSHIP
BACK TO SCHOOL FESTIVAL
Come out on August 7, 2010 for an evening with 4v4 soccer, our very own “Saturday Session” band and our feature movie, Tooth Fairy. Festivities start at 6pm.

As adults we face pressures from all angles. Whether you are single, a parent, young, older or anything in between life can be difficult. At Stockbridge UMC we are dedicated to bringing ministries that empower people, love people and help people grow as Christians in this world. Our ministries are wide and broad reaching and we hope you will take time to read about each, but also want to know more.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The United Methodist Women, or UMW, is a group of women who come together once a month for two main reasons: mission and fellowship.

At Stockbridge First, we believe that reaching out to the social missions of our community is a vital part ofourmission. UMW is in the process of planning a variety of activities for 2009 and would love to have you join them. The women of UMW would love all women of the church to join with them, and invite you to consider attending their next meeting for a great time of fellowship and friends.  They now hold breakfast meetings on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 8:30am in room 238.

UNITED METHODIST MEN: The United Methodist Men (UMM) would like to invite all men ages 15 and up to join us for breakfast and fellowship. We meet on the second Saturday of each month at 8:30am. Typically, the meetings last about an hour.

The UMM is a group of men who come together for the four F’s: FAITH, FELLOWSHIP, FOOD, and FUN. We are involved in the life of the church and the community through many events. Our annual Pork and Chicken BBQs and the church Pumpkin Patch in October are huge hits. We also host a Pit Stop (car inspection) twice a year for our seniors of the church and the community. For those that like to play in the dirt, we also have work days maintaining the grounds of the church. If you’re looking for some fun, we play paintball with our youth and enjoy bowling, golfing and fishing with each other. We also continue to support ourcompass-2 local missions through blanket drives and canned food drives to our local food pantry.

As you can see, UMM has a little bit of everything to offer. So come and join us and we will get you on course!

SMALL GROUPS: We have a wonderful selection of small groups for all ages.  They meet on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and throughout the week.

RELAY FOR LIFE: We are very involved in cancer support and attend the annual Relay For Life.  Come join us and let’s find a cure for cancer.

CANCER CONNECTION: If you are a cancer survivor or someone who has lost a friend or loved one to cancer come and be a part of this special group.  They will love you and listen to you.

BIBLE STUDIES: We have many ways in which you can learn and grow deeper in your walk.  Find out how and get connected with a great Bible study.  Learn about God, yourself and meet a great group of people.
