SACRED SPACE–Sunday Night Youth Fellowship (rising 6th-12th)
A time for worship, Bible study, fun & fellowship on Sunday evenings! We’ve heard the parables of Jesus, but have we really experienced them? For many, the stories Jesus used to teach truth, to get people thinking about faith and life, and to challenge them to live differently are just that—stories. But with these thought-provoking lessons from 36 Parables, you truly experience the parables of Jesus. So join us on Sunday nights in room 220 from 5-8pm!
TNT-Teens N’ Truth
Sometimes it’s hard to transition from being a 5th grader in elementary school where you’re the oldest and the coolest, to being a 6th grader in Middle School. That’s one of the reasons we have SUMC Youth, to help you adjust to new things! We’re a group of friends that have Jesus in common! So join us on Wednesday nights in room 220 from 6-7pm. Right now we are studying “The Gospel According to Harry Potter.” It is a book that is sure to delight Harry Potter fans and spiritual seekers alike, Connie Neal embarks on an exploration into J.K. Rowling’s created world of magic and mystery and enumerates more than fifty “Potteran” themes that can be seen as glimmers of the Christian gospel. With an arsenal of charming allusions and parallels, Neal persuasively demonstrates that Harry Potter need not be rejected as a threat to the Christian faith, as some have claimed. This is a must-attend for everyone intrigued by the Harry Potter phenomenon and who desire to be Seekers for the truth in Christ!
